A 59-centimetre clog with a woven sisal footbed, built to the measure of a cat rather than a foot. Ten thousand years of sleeping in the wrong shoes, corrected.
Fit
Measured by the nap.
We did not start from a shoe last. We started from a sleeping cat, stretched, curled and halfway between, and drew the footbed around the longest version. Then we raised the hood until the cat disappeared.

Footbed
The sole is not for walking.
The footbed is woven natural sisal, the fibre cats choose when they are allowed to choose. It runs the full length of the slipper and takes a claw the way a sofa arm does, except that it is meant to. The weave is dense enough to bite and coarse enough to shed what it pulls loose.

Hood
A roof with light in it.
The hood covers the front two thirds of the footbed and stands 28 centimetres at its peak, high enough for a cat to turn around under it. The perforations are not decoration. They let air through, they let afternoon light fall in beams onto whoever is inside, and they let a cat watch a room while believing it cannot be seen.
The upper is a soft-touch finish over a shell that keeps its shape when it is leaned on, climbed on or slept against.
Care
Stays put. Comes apart.
The underside is an anti-slip fabric studded with fine rubber dots, so the slipper holds its ground however hard the footbed is worked. The hood fastens to the base with hook-and-loop strips: lift it off, wash the shell and the mat separately, press it back.
